“I know there is a prayer chain for him. Unfortunately his condition has become complicated. We are all trying to get him out because, moreover, he is a very good person. It depends on God and the strength he may have. Let’s pray for it to move forward“She said Clarion Alicio Dagatti, president of Estudiantes de Río Cuarto.

While waiting for a new medical report, the people close to the former footballer explained it “Not even 24 hours have passed since he was assisted with an artificial respirator and there has been no evolution, but thank God he has stopped regressing.”

They also stressed that the specialists treating him have asked for caution and to wait at least 72 hours to see how mechanical assistance will affect his condition.

Raggio, born in Villa Constitución and with a long career as a footballer in various First Division clubs after taking his first steps in Newell’s Old Boys of Rosario, arrived at Estudiantes de Río Cuarto last December, when he took over as technical director of a team that has strengthened enough to be a protagonist in the second category of Argentine football.

On Sunday 4 February, in the first match of the 2024 Primera Nacional, it was a 1-0 home victory against Deportivo Madryn AND Carozo, as they know it, directed without problems according to what they say from Córdoba. It was one of those triumphs that thrill at the start of a championship, on a full pitch and celebrated with the enthusiasm typical of promotional football.

However, the next day, Raggio was admitted to the aforementioned Rio Cuarto clinic, suffering from a mental health disorder “dehydration and pneumonia”as announced by the club on Wednesday 7th.

“He is clearly improving, resting and evolving in the best possible way. It is estimated that he will be discharged on Saturday to resume his duties again”, they said then, without imagining this complication that worries everyone.

However, when his medical discharge was expected, the alarm was raised this Saturday with a new post from the institution’s official account.

Our coach, Mr. Gustavo Raggio, who has been hospitalized at the Río Cuarto Medical Institute since February 5th, is suffering from a bilateral respiratory problem”, reads the statement released by the club online.

And he continued, giving an account of the difficult panorama that Raggio finds himself facing: “In the last 24 hours the evolution has not been as expected, he has presented a worsening of his conditions, requiring greater respiratory support assistance”.

“The prognosis regarding his health has become ‘confidential,'” concludes the letter signed by the Student Athletic Association.

In another of the messages published by the so-called Lion of the Empire“all friends of the club are asked to accompany him with their prayers for the improvement of his health”, accompanying his post with the hashtag #GustavoForza.
