Estudiantes de Río Cuarto, who signed Raggio in December, published a message asking that “all the friends of the club accompany him with their prayers for the improvement of his health”, accompanying their post with the hashtag #FuerzaGustavo.

On Sunday 4 February Raggio took charge of his first full-court match at Estudiantes de Río Cuarto. The victory was 1-0 against Deprotivo Madryn and Carozo, as he was nicknamed, did not show any health problems.

However, the next day, he was admitted to the Río Cuarto Medical Institute for a “bilateral respiratory condition”, according to the club.

Raggio, born in Villa Constitución and with a long career in football promotion, arrived at the clinic with a condition of “dehydration and pneumonia”.

It was thought he would be discharged the next day, but the situation became complicated and required respiratory assistance.

On Monday, a new report signed by the Medical Directorate of the clinic was released: “Mr. Gustavo Raggio is improving in the intensive care unit, his vital parameters are stabilized, he continues with advanced life support, his prognosis remains reserved”.
