The photo was shared by Christian Fittipaldi, his son, on Christmas Eve, eight weeks ago. In the image, Wilson appeared smiling next to his family and his 80th birthday cake, as he celebrated his birthday at Christmas.
This was one of his last photos. Shortly after the celebration, Fittipaldi choked on a piece of meat and was left breathless. As a result, he suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be rushed to hospital. He had been in the hospital since December 2023 to fight the complications of cardiac arrest, but he did not survive and passed away this Friday, 23rd, in a hospital in São Paulo.
He left behind his wife, Rita, and their son, Christian Fittipaldi.
