Wilson Fittipaldi’s last photo before hospitalization was shown by his son

The former Formula 1 driver Wilson Fittipaldihe passed away this Friday, the 23rd, as a result of complications from a cardiac arrest he suffered at Christmas 2023. In fact, the last photo of him that was shared on social media was taken shortly before the incident that rushed him to the hospital.

The photo was shared by Christian Fittipaldi, his son, on Christmas Eve, eight weeks ago. In the image, Wilson appeared smiling next to his family and his 80th birthday cake, as he celebrated his birthday at Christmas.

This was one of his last photos. Shortly after the celebration, Fittipaldi choked on a piece of meat and was left breathless. As a result, he suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be rushed to hospital. He had been in the hospital since December 2023 to fight the complications of cardiac arrest, but he did not survive and passed away this Friday, 23rd, in a hospital in São Paulo.

He left behind his wife, Rita, and their son, Christian Fittipaldi.

Paulo, he was admitted to Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, in São Paulo, for treatment of pneumonia after feeling ill during a trip to the United States. He returned to Brazil in a hurry on a plane with an ICU (Intensive Care Unit).

His death was confirmed by an official note released by his family on Sunday night. “It is with extreme regret that the Diniz family announces the death of Abilio Diniz at the age of 87 this Sunday, February 18, 2024, victim of respiratory failure due to pneumonitis. The businessman leaves behind five children, wife, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will meet his son João Paulo, who passed away in 2022. The family is grateful for all the messages of support and affection”, they informed.
