Wilson Fittipaldi’s widow pays touching tribute to him

The death of the former Formula 1 driverWilson Fittipaldi moved fans around Brazil last week. Now his widow, Rita Reis Fittipaldipaid her last tribute to her husband on social media on the day she said goodbye to him.

In a post on Instagram, she recalled photos of him in life and also in the hospital. She still remembered the happy life they had and said goodbye to him.

“Rest in peace, Wilsinho. My love, you fought bravely all these days! Now, he is in the glory of God. God gave, God took… Praise the Lord. Thank you for having had wonderful moments with you and the entire Fittipaldi family.”she said.

Wilson Fittipaldi’s body was taken in a procession along the Interlagos Racetrack track last Saturday, the 24th, when they made a lap around the track with the coffin on top of a fire truck. This Sunday, the 25th, the family will hold the wake in a cemetery in the south of São Paulo, which is restricted to those closest to them.

The former Formula 1 driver Wilson Fittipaldi died at the age of 80. His death occurred at 6 am this Friday, the 23rd, in a hospital in São Paulo.

He had been hospitalized since December 2023, when he suffered a cardiac arrest as a result of choking. At the time, his wife, Rita, said that the athlete choked on a piece of meat and suffered cardiac arrest. He was admitted and intubated. After having the tracheostomy, he was extubated and went to his room in January.

He left behind his wife, Rita, and their son, Christian Fittipaldi.

Before the choking in December, he took one last photo with his family in a moment of joy and the image was shared on social media, as it was also his birthday.
