Daniel Alves: Spanish court grants provisional freedom to player

According to information from G1, on the morning of this Wednesday, 20th, the Spanish Court accepted the request made by the athlete’s lawyer. The defense awaits the final sentence.

Outside prison, Daniel is prohibited from approaching the victim, including the workplace or any other place she frequents. Furthermore, his Brazilian and Spanish passports are withheld, which means he will not be able to leave the European country.

The former Brazilian national team player will also need to appear weekly at the Provincial Court. The Brazilian received a sentence of four years and six months in prison for the crime of sexual assault. The decision can be appealed.

Daniel, who has been in pre-trial detention since January last year, will remain in prison, according to information from G1. Furthermore, the player must spend nine years away from the victim.

The former Brazilian athlete was also ordered to pay compensation to the woman, in the amount of approximately 150 thousand euros, approximately R$804 thousand. Furthermore, Daniel will be responsible for covering the costs of the process. After serving his sentence, he will have supervised release for five years. The former player’s defense still has the possibility of appealing the decision.
