The very intense storm that hit the center of the country since Tuesday night caused material consequences in some clubs, especially in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, including Estudiantes de La Plata and Racing, which saw part of their structures be invaded by water.
In the case of the Avellaneda club, the most important difficulties occurred in its headquarters, located in Avenida Miter 900. There, the water, which had covered the sidewalk, entered the ground floor of the building. As a result, the club’s Membership Department has announced that the club will remain closed on Wednesday.
The storm has been particularly strong in the La Plata area since sunset Tuesday. This caused numerous streets in the capital Buenos Aires to flood. One of the most affected areas was the one around the Estudiantes stadium.
55th Street, on which one of the heads of the Jorge Luis Hirschi stadium, the VIP boxes, the Paseo de los Professores and the parking lot are located, was completely covered, to the point that the water flowed like a river.

The city’s other major club also saw its routine altered due to the storm. Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata has decided to suspend the training that its team would have carried out on Wednesday morning due to the flooding of some roads bordering the Estancia Chica property and also to avoid seriously damaging the training pitch.
The damage caused by the meteorological phenomenon was not limited to AMBA. On July 9, in the center of the province of Buenos Aires, the Guillermo Maldonado racetrack, located on the outskirts of the city, also suffered damage caused by the storm.

The storm affected the premises located at numbers 1 and 55 of the provincial capital.
“The whole row of pits was blown up, part of the fence, plus the fence in front and the roof of the control tower, the lower one, because I think the upper one is safe, but I can’t guarantee it yet. The technical part was also affected, but to a lesser extent,” explained Agustín Vanina, president of the Auto Moto Club Nuevejuliense, in the statements collected by Carburando.
“It was a very strong storm, a tornado or a hurricane. It was 15 minutes of very strong wind and rain. The entire area near the racetrack was the one that suffered the most from the wind. There are warehouses, silos and factories that have been completely blown up. As for the flying club, all the warehouses were blown up,” added Vanina.
The climatic adversities will continue in the next few hours. Indeed, the National Meteorological Service maintains an orange warning for thunderstorms and wind for the city of Buenos Aires and Entres Ríos, most of the provinces of Buenos Aires and Santa Fe, the east and south of Córdoba and the north-west of The Pampa.
The most affected areas, a priori, will be the southern area of the outskirts of Buenos Aires, where rain and thunderstorms are expected, some locally strong or violent, accompanied mainly by hail, intense gusts of wind (could exceed 90 kilometers per hour) , abundant falls of water in short periods and frequent electrical activity.

In just 8 hours the Cyclone should play the pending match against Godoy Cruz.
This will force us to wait until the last minute to find out if the games scheduled for today can be played, mainly in the AMBA. The most important is the one between San Lorenzo and Godoy Cruz at the Pedro Bidegain stadium, which corresponds to the ninth round of the League Cup and which was pending due to the participation of the Mendoza team in the second preliminary phase of the Copa Libertadores.
The match between River and Ferro is also scheduled for the afternoon, the third round of the First Division Women’s Tournament. Several matches are also scheduled for the fifth day of the Proyección Cup (the ancient Reserve tournament).
