Godoy Cruz and San Martín de San Juan face each other for the 32nd round of the Argentine Cup at the Juan Gilberto Funes stadium in San Luis, in what could be considered a new edition of the Cuyo classic. Not much happened in the match until, 30 minutes into the first half, the calm was broken. But not for a goal, but for what was happening in the stands. Referee Darío Herrera had to suspend the match when seats started flying from one stand to another, from the central seats. The situation led to bullfights and the creation of a cordon by the police to keep the fans away and restore calm.

“It’s a shame, no one wants this, not even us. The players are very nervous, we hope that the security agencies will give us the guarantees to continue,” Herrera said as police banging could be heard on the stands. In another sector, troops used a water cannon to disperse people.
“The steps to follow are to wait for everything to normalize, for security to speak and give us the guarantees to continue the match. It is a beautiful event and we have the responsibility to take care of it”, continued the referee.
