I had a difficult night Nicholas Jarry inside Miami Masters 1000. The Chilean, who at 28 years old is going through a great moment in his career, took to the field to tackle Daniel Medvedev, number four in the world, and reach the semifinals; but he failed to make the shot. After a tough warm-up, in which he posted a batting average of girl with balls involuntarily, up to some points in which the net played tricks on him, luck was not on the Chilean’s side, who despite playing a good match, lost 6-2 and 7-6 (9-7) and said goodbye to the dispute.
The match hadn’t even started when Jarry, ranked 23rd, got his first shock. He was in the middle of the previous warm-up, when he was fine-tuning his serve. The Chilean served and the ball ended up hitting the face of a ball carrier who was crossing the back of the court, he slipped and while trying to keep his balance he was hit.
Jarry’s reaction was immediate. Wasting no time he ran outside to check on the ball girl. Even Medvedev’s wife, who was in the Russian’s box, was worried about what happened (as the cameras showed), but fortunately the impact was not very strong and the girl managed to leave the stadium, escorted from Jarry.
The Chilean then exchanged a smile with his rival, who had also followed the moment closely, and continued to prepare for the match, which had not started well for him.

Because the Muscovite, third seed, did better in the first set, won without too many problems. But Jarry raised the level in the second and gave away some points that made the Chileans on the pitch delirious. But it wasn’t his night.
At the start of the second chapter, now much more confident, he was playing a great serve game and the scores were 0-1 and 30-0. He made his opponent run from one end of the court to the other, but when he tried to close it, he left the ball in the net. He still managed to take that match and battle through the rest of the set, which was settled in a tight tie break.
“It’s not easy,” Medvedev wrote on the camera lens (as winners are wont to do), acknowledging the excellent work done by his rival.
Call him Jarry Potter ????

“It was a match that I would have liked to play the way I finished in the last games of the second set,” Jarry lamented. But he acknowledged: “I’m happy with the whole week, with the matches and the progress made since the first round. Let’s continue on this path, which has found me very well and I’m very happy with all the work.”
Medvedev will now face the Italian Jannik Sinner, the most effective player of the season (20-1 record) and just defeated Machac, to advance to the final. Meanwhile the Chilean, a finalist this year in Buenos Aires (fell to Facundo Diaz Acosta) will focus on preparing for the European clay tour which will culminate at Roland Garros.
