“In Daniel’s case, he paid bail to obtain freedom since there was no conviction against him”, clarifies. According to her, this practice does not apply in Brazil.

“The amount can be returned at the end of the process if he were acquitted, it would be returned in full. As he was convicted, he can even request the amount back, it would be returned, if paid to Brazil, after payment of procedural costs”added Fabiana.

At the end of the interview, the professional explained that the bail only served to enforce freedom with measures – such as not fleeing Spain, not approaching the victim and weekly attendance at the forum. If the player fails to comply with them, the amount is not allowed to be redeemed at the end of the process.
