River He started his journey on the right foot Copa Libertadores 2024 beating Deportivo Táchira 2-0 in Venezuela. And the victory is celebrated in triplicate. The fact is that, in addition to quickly settling into his group, the victory brought him great benefits in the race for qualification for the Club World Cup 2025. On top of that, he was one step away from unseating Mouth ahead of the event that will be played in the United States.

The three points scored on Tuesday evening by the boys led by Martín Demichelis not only expanded the Libertadores zone, but were also included in the Conmebol ranking. This way, River reached 70 points and were only one behind Boca, who lead the table with 71.

The classification methodology works according to the same logic as for any party: three points for each match won, one for a draw and three additional points for each round spent in the Libertadores. It is worth remembering that the first two teams in the ranking, added to the champions of the 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 editions, will be the ones who will receive Conmebol tickets to participate in the mega 32-team Club World Cup, which will be held in the United States, in mid-2025.

Even if Boca continues to lead the table, it would be practically impossible for River not to overtake them. The thing is Participants in the Copa Sudamericana do not add points, so Xeneize lost the chance to increase their score this year.

And, from the ranking in which Boca and River compete, only two enter.

In short, With only one tie, the Millionaire will share first place with the mouth and if they win one of the remaining matches, they will occupy the first position themselves. Likewise, the change of venue would not change much because both teams would continue to qualify for the Club World Cup.

The next date, River will receive Nacional of Uruguay in the Monumental. It will be Thursday 11 April from 11pm.

Boca’s possible complications ahead of the Club World Cup

Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense have already been classified for having been the champions of the last three editions of the tournament. The champion of this edition will win a place, while the other two will be rewarded based on their position in the CONMEBOL ranking.

The others that would be classified so far are Boca (71 points) and River (70), with Olimpia (57), Nacional (43) behind, although the 2024 edition is yet to be played.

Olimpia no longer presents itself as a threat because this year it will not participate in international competitions and, therefore, will not add points to the rankings. This way, Boca should only focus on Nacional having the worst possible group stage.

In this sense, Xeneize will be extremely attentive to what happens between River and Nacional next week.. The fact is that if Bolso passed the group stage and reached the quarter-finals, winning a good part of the matches, they could overtake Boca in the standings.

This is how brothers, no matter how much history marks them as opponents, can be united for a moment.: If Núñez’s men beat Nacional, they will lead the table and do their homework in the group, although they will also complicate the chances of the Stock Exchange leaving Boca without the Club World Cup.
