In the 71st minute of the match, the 24-year-old put his hand on his chest and set off all the alarms at the BlueEnergy Stadium in Udine (north) where the match was taking place.

Immediately, both the referee and Daniele De Rossi, Roma’s coach, called for help, who also intervened with the defibrillator.

After two minutes and without the need to resuscitate the player, the medical team took Ndicka away on a stretcher, conscious. In fact, there was a thumbs up gesture from the player when he entered the locker room.

It was at that moment that De Rossi refused to continue the match without personally checking the condition of his central defender. He entered the locker room to check on Ndicka’s condition with the referee’s permission.

“Everything’s fine,” said the coach as he returned to the pitch, reassuring his players.

De Rossi, visibly moved and worried, however asked the referee and rival coach, Daniele Cioffi, to suspend the match due to the complexity of the situation.

The Giallorossi coach gathered his players and Roma showed their concern and their desire not to continue the duel. De Rossi communicated this to the Argentinian coach and captain of Udinese Roberto Pereyraand the game ended.

The Roma captains approached the stands where the fans were to explain what had happened. The entire Udinese stadium applauded the referee’s decision to suspend the duel.

After an initial check-up in the stadium infirmary, the player was transferred to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine without losing consciousness at any time, local media reported.
