The young Yankees fan who caused a stir on the Internet once again shed tears of joy on Wednesday when he met his Yankees hero Aaron Judge at the Rogers Center.
It came the next day after the poignant moment Derek Rodriguez, 9, was seen in tears as he hugged Blue Jays fan Mike Lanzillota after the latter handed the boy the ball from Judge, Yankees ’home run.
After the cannon fire landed on the second porch, on the left field, in the 6th inning on Tuesday, Lanzillota first picked up the ball, expressing his joy in a moment. Then, without hesitation, he handed the valuables to Derek, who was wearing Judge’s 99 jersey, along with the fans to his right.
Rodriguez, his family and Lanzillotta were invited to the field and to the New York dugout before Wednesday’s game in Toronto.
Derek burst into tears of joy when Judge came over to chat and sign the ball in question. The slugger also gave him a pair of his batting gloves.
