Rome shows that not everyone is business in the world of football. It is the club of the Italian capital that announced in the last hours that it will invite to the final of Europa Conference Leagueon May 25 against Feyenoord in Tirana, Albania, to 166 fans who traveled to Norway in October and witnessed -or rather, suffered- shame caused by Bodo/Glimt (6-1) in the group stage.

“The club has decided to thank the 166 season ticket holders who were present at the game on October 21 in the remote sector of the Aspmyra stadium in Bodo, guaranteeing them a free ticket to the final”announced Roma, hours after sealing their qualification by beating England’s Leicester 1-0 on Thursday.

The list of fans was established from sales data provided by the average Norwegian club, which defined Giallorosso through its website.

Roma coach, Portuguese José Mourinho -who will go into his eighth European final as DT-, has acknowledged that it is one of his worst nights for continental tournaments. Although a few months later his team will take revenge by eliminating Bodo/Glimt in April in the quarterfinals.

Due to the reduced capacity of the National Arena in Tirana (21,690 seats according to UEFA), the venue for the final of the first edition of the Europa Conference League, few lucky Roman fans can count on a ticket.

Roma, whose last title came from the Coppa Italia won in 2008, have a chance to lift the first trophy organized by UEFA. Rome’s only international title began in 1961, with the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, the prelude to the UEFA Cup /Europa League.
