Ang Chelsea ng premier league from England will be sold to $ 5.2 billion in an American consortium led by Todd Boehleyco-owner of the LA Dodgers baseball team.

The London club was put up for sale before the Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich was punished for his alleged relationship with the president of Russia Vladimir Putin after the invasion of Ukraine, BBC Sports reported.

In a statement, Chelsea said it expects to complete the sale by the end of May and the acquisition will require approval from English soccer authorities and the UK government.

Chelsea are operating under a special license from the UK government that will end on May 31, but last month, Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries said the club was in “borrowed time” to complete the sale.
