Canada Soccer found the woman of the situation to advance the development of women’s professional soccer in Canada.
The federation on Saturday appointed Breagha Carr-Harris as head of women’s professional soccer.
More than ever, women’s professional soccer deserves its rightful place in this country. We are very pleased to welcome Breagha Carr-Harris to this newly created role that will be vital to the advancement of our sport.said Dr. Nick Bontis, president of Canada Soccer, in a press release.
Breagha’s extensive innate professional experience, along with her passion and commitment to women’s sport, will be key to her leadership. She will lead the new Women’s Professional Soccer Task Force that will draw on the expertise of our Women’s National Team Head Coach, Bev Priestman, former National Team players, high -performing provincial and territory and business communities.
Carr-Harris worked for 15 years at Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment for all six teams in the group: Maple Leafs, Toronto FC, Raptors, Raptors 905, Marlies and Argonauts.
It is an absolute privilege to accept the role of Women’s Professional Soccer Manager for Canada Soccer, having been involved in the sport for over three decades as a player, coach and then in a professional club environment.said Carr-Harris.
As an avid supporter of women’s soccer from the grassroots to our National Women’s Team, I recognize the dedication, commitment and support of Canada Soccer and of our country’s players and leaders at all levels and I am extremely pleased that we are in a position to have a discussion on how to establish women’s professional sport in Canada.
