Targeted by allegations of favoritism, coach Daniel Trépanier submitted his resignation as high performance director of Boxing Canada on Sunday.
According to information from Radio-Canada Sports, dozens of boxers have denounced Daniel Trépanier’s methods. He was notably accused of favoritism in selections for the Olympic Games.
Trépanier was supposed to accompany the national team to the women’s world boxing championship, but IBA revoked her accreditation
The Boxing Canada Board of Directors held emergency meetings over the weekend to discuss ways to improve transparency and governance of the organizationwill we read in a press release from the federation.
The Board decided to expedite the work of the third-party expert contacted in March 2022 to conduct a comprehensive cultural review of the High Performance Program to ensure that athletes and coaches can perform well in an optimal environment. This work is currently underway and will be accelerated in the coming months in conjunction with the selection of our new national team.
