The Pittsburgh Penguins once again tortured life for Igor Shesterkin and crushed the New York Rangers 7-2 on Monday night.
Chasing the game on Saturday after giving up 4 goals in 15 shots, Shesterkin allowed 6 goals in 30 shots before giving up his seat again on Monday.
Sidney Crosby, Mike Matheson, Jake Guentzel, Mark Friedman, Danton Heinen and Jeff Carter all defeated the serious contender for the Vezina Trophy. Evgeni Malkin for his part scored at the expense of Alexander Georgiev, who came to relief at the start of the third period.
Crosby finished the game with a goal and two assists to become the sixth player in NHL history to reach 200 points in the playoffs. He was just one point away to match Jaromir Jagr for 5th place (201).
Louis Domingue let himself guide his attack and he blocked 22 pucks in the win for his team.
The Penguins won both games in front of home fans and took a 3-1 lead in this series. They will have a chance to take the Rangers off on Wednesday, when Game 5 will be held at Madison Square Garden.
Alexis Lafrenière and Adam Fox lined up for the Rangers, who have not won a playoffs since April 20, 2017, when they beat the Montreal Canadiens in overtime.
