Igor Shesterkin and K’Andre Miller are defending against Sidney Crosby on the net.

Penguin captain Sidney Crosby left the game in the second period. He contacted Jacob Trouba and went straight to his bench.

Igor Shesterkin stopped 29 shots in the win. His counterpart Louis Domingue allowed four goals in 33 shots.

The teams will return to battle on Friday in Pittsburgh, where the Rangers will once again face elimination.

The visitors were the first to enter the scoreboard and they made it to the middle of the first period. Jake Guentzel jumped on his own return and his shot bounced off Shesterkin’s pad to find a way into the net.

Guentzel has scored in every game in the series.

Kris Letang doubled his lead in the middle period. The surgical precision of Evgeni Malkin’s lifted pass allowed Letang to unleash a powerful one-timer that then rolled the ropes.

The Rangers, then retreated to the wall, had not yet said their last word. They exploded with three goals in the final five minutes of engagement.

Adam Fox started the comeback with an accurate bang at the top of the net. Lafrenière was leveled with a close range shot at Domingue. Finally, Jacob Trouba tricked the Penguin goalkeeper’s watch with a backhand shot that went between the pads of the latter.

Before the end of the second season, Guentzel went on to martyrdom in training in New York and recorded his seventh goal of the series. Malkin gave the puck to the prolific winger, who forgot the slot, and the latter did not miss such an opportunity.

At the start of the third period, Filip Chytil took advantage of a favorable rebound to settle in front of Domingue. Thanks to a few seconds, he had time to fire an accurate shot at the top of the net, restoring the lead to the Rangers.

Ryan Lindgren completed the job on an empty net.
