Former Argentine soccer player Sergio “Kun” Agüero was honored today with the inauguration of a statue at the gates of Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, a decade after the English team captured the first Premier League title.
Agüero, who played between 2011 and 2021 at City, sent a message via his social network Twitter account with a short but emotional phrase: “Thank you forever.”
In another message, Kun showed his funniest and most spontaneous face when describing the magnificent colossus offered to him in England. “High statue huh,” he tweeted.
The work done by artist Andy Scott can be found at the door of the Etihad along with other Manchester club legends such as the Spanish David Silva and the Belgian Vincent Kompany.
The event, attended by “Kun”, will be held at noon in England and in the evening there will be an exclusive party with 2,000 fans at Mayfield Depot, a traditional cultural site in the city.

“The statue was incredible and I was very happy for the titles,” Aguero told BBC Sports, adding, “That goal in 2012 changed my life, changed the club and everything. For me this is the best moment of my life, it will be in my heart“.
Manchester City will celebrate the tenth anniversary of their first Premier League title with the Argentine striker as the main protagonist. “Kun” scored the goal of the overwhelming victory against Queens Park Rangers when the game clock was 93:20.

This brand has been adopted by the club and its fans as one of the most iconic moments in history.
The City has launched a special edition of the shirt as a tribute to Agüero already used by the group in the run-up to last Sunday’s match against Newcastle and some boots from the brand that dresses the club and sponsors now former soccer players who have retired due to heart problems have also been put up for sale.

After that historic title, “Kun” won four more Premier League including City, an FA Cup and six League Cups.
Agüero set the club record for goals with 260 goals, in 390 games, and remains the foreign player with the most screams in Premier League history with 184, nine more than Frenchman Thierry Henry.
These achievements led the former Independiente to become part of the Premier League Hall of Fame.
Praise for Haaland
Agüero also spoke about the recent signing of Erling Haaland with Manchester City, the Norwegian striker from Borussia Dortmund.
“He’s a great striker,” Kun said when asked by Nordic. “Hopefully he adapts well to the team because it’s not easy to play in the Premier League,” the Argentine continued.
“I wish him the best, because I am a Manchester City fan and I hope he scores a lot of goals,” added the former striker.
