Max Domi scored twice in the second period and Antti Raanta stopped for 27 shots to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 on Saturday in the final game of their first-round series.

Teuvo Teravainen also hit the target for the Hurricanes, who eventually won a series against the Bruins. The latter swept the Hurricanes in the Eastern final in 2019 and defeated them in five games in the first round in 2020 in the Toronto bubble.

The home team won every game in the series and the Hurricanes were the last to laugh, once again enjoying the support of their fans.

In the second round, the Hurricanes will face the winner of the series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers. The seventh game of this series will be shown on Sunday.

Domi, who pulled out of the Columbus Blue Jackets at the trade deadline, was the game’s surprise hero. He scored his first two playoff goals and added an assist to Teravainen’s goal with a perfect pass in the slot.

Raanta, who is making his playoff debut this spring, has once again been firmly in front of his net. He made his most impressive save in the first half, pulling a huge gap to disappoint Taylor Hall.

Jake DeBrusk scored in the second period for the Bruins. David Pastrnak then scored with 21.7 seconds left in the third period, when goaltender Jeremy Swayman was replaced by an extra forward.

The Hurricanes were able to stay on their one-goal lead and were able to celebrate their win later.

Swayman made 28 saves for the Bruins, who are in the playoffs for the sixth straight season.

This time, the Hurricanes have yet to lag behind in the series, outscoring the Bruins in all three of their games this season.

The Bruins ’plans remain uncertain this summer. The longtime captain and No. 1 center Patrice Bergeron could be an unlimited free agent after 18 seasons with the team. Bergeron hugged each of his colleagues as they left the ice.
