“I said:‘ I’m about to die ’”, was Kun Agüero’s rough confession when he felt the arrhythmia in the middle of the match against Barcelona.

Ang With Aguero signed in to Barcelona in May 2021 and shortly thereafter a cardiac arrhythmia who appeared to him in the middle of a game that forced him retire early, at 33 years old. Until this Wednesday, the former Argentine National Team striker never spoke too raw about that incident that halted his career as an athlete.

In dialogue with the Spanish program the anthillthe former Manchester City remembered what happened at that moment when he felt an irregularity in his heartbeat while walking near the venue in a match against the Blaugrana club at Camp Nou and surprised everyone at the details.

I started to go along and I wanted to shout at the referee to stop the game, but my voice didn’t come out. That’s when I started to feel dizzy, so I took a defender’s hand and asked him to stop the game, ”the Argentine began.

That moment came to life in the 37th minute of the first half between Barcelona and Alavés was a break in his life. “Then the dizziness disappeared and the arrhythmia started. When it stopped, they took me to the hospital and I was hospitalized for three days,” he added.

Without a mincing word, Agüero acknowledged that thinking of death. “My heart was beating so fast and those seconds seemed like minutes. And there I said ‘I’m about to die’. The mother’s shell, I thought I was going to go up, “he said.

The former attacker who came out of Independiente had to leave football early. “It’s just that, I’m 33 years old, a child and have a future life,” he said of his decision.

But also, the Argentine’s body gives him signs that he is not one hundred percent. “I started going through the preseason, with weird symptoms, but I thought it was the training, the heat. Then I got injured and lost my job for a month, but I still felt uncomfortable.”He added.

And he maintains: “Later I started training with the team and in training I often suffocated, until one day near the doctor I told him I was feeling bad, then I was a bit dizzy and the arrhythmia started”.

Medical tests yielded positive results, so the Argentine decided compete again. But in the field everything is different. Ang bad moment lived at Camp Nou at the end of October last year was decisive. After three days in the hospital, the doctor told him that “I can play, but it could happen to me again and it could be worse”.

Thus, Kun Agüero was forced to retire early, after a great career in Europe (being one of the best players in the history of Manchester City and leaving a good image at Atlético Madrid) and having a unique role in the National Argentina team that lifted gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Games and 2021 Copa América.
