Indec director Marco Lavagna announced on Wednesday that the digital census will be rehabilitated for those who are not registered. As specified by the agency, the site will be enabled in the next few minutes and will be open until May 24, included. He also explained that there will be “recovery” operations in areas not reached by pollsters.

Those who have not received a visit from the census taker, have not previously completed the online questionnaire and decided not to do so at this new stage, should also call 0800-345-2022 and if they live in the City of Buenos Aires, call 147 or send an email [email protected].

The data collection operation will continue for six days, but it has also been decided to rehabilitate the digital census until May 24. “There is a combination of how it is done, there are field operations that we articulate in the provinces, where with a segment, an unregistered building will be registered, looking for codes and if there is a person. who did not do the digital census was recorded, ”the official reported when asked how the 2022 Census would be completed.

“The digital census is enabled for a week exactly so that at the time of that recovery, if someone is left unregistered, they can be registered. The goal is to do so. count all and all dwellings“, the Indec chief sent at a press conference after the operation ended on Wednesday.

According to the official, the system will be “operational in these minutes”, but as of 23 this Wednesday it remained inactive.

In this context, Lavagna expects partial data to be available tomorrow. “Unfortunately it is not like an election to provide partial data, we have to give concrete data,” he explained.

“We have 70% of the data uploaded but we must have all of it to be able to communicate it,” he said, later indicating that “the operation also depends on the census takeers in the provinces who continue to upload the forms.”

Lavagna insisted that the idea was “everyone can be registered, counted.”

According to the official, “there are no major complications of the census.” However, he acknowledged that “there were census takers who were missing at the last minute or suffered inconveniences and left work in the middle or had problems with how information was transferred, but nothing in general terms had complicated it.”

“It’s impossible to assume that an operation like this will be flawless one day. The truth is also talking to provincial leaders, the level of non -response is very little or timely“, featured the head of Indec.

Finally, he apologized to those who could not register this Wednesday. “Understand that someone waiting for the census takeer may feel resentment that it didn’t happen, but know how to understand that this is a giant operation, it’s not that they don’t consider it, they’re part of the goal now. weeks to register them, “he said.

How to respond to the digital census

The digital census in Argentina was implemented from March 16 to this Wednesday, May 18, when the 2022 Census was developed.

The digital format is optional and contains traditional questions related to housing, employment and people’s economic situation.

In this edition, the category “X” is added to the section of the gender registered at birth and the options “female”, “trans woman/transvestite”, “male”, “trans male/trans masculinity”, “non-binary” , “different identity/none of the above” when asking how the person is seen.

In other novelties, it is also consulted whether to recognize an indigenous past, by descendants of original people or by black or African ancestors, among others.

To answer digital census questions, you must enter the official website of the 2022 Census in Argentina and select the “Digital Census” option.

The first step of the digital census involves completing a series of minimum data, to verify the identity of the person performing the procedure.

When this step is completed, the system will send an email with a Unique Code (an alphanumeric sequence) associated with the home. Using the five-digit code, the census itself can be started.

At the end of the census, the system will deliver a second code, very similar to the first – but different – that needs to be saved or written somewhere.

The digital questionnaire can be completed at different times. For this, it is necessary to keep the unique residence code sent by email when entering the digital Census for the first time. Responses are saved automatically and when completed, can no longer be edited.

To complete the digital version of the census, no DNI is required. The document number, along with the day and month of birth, is on a temporary screen used to verify that the person answering the digital census is a human, and not a robot, of sufficient age (over 14 years) to answer on behalf of all household members.
