Vancouver’s Rebecca Marino qualified for the French Open main draw with a 6-2, 6-0 straight-set win over Australia’s Seone Mendez on Friday.
Marino faced 18th-seeded American Coco Gauff in the first round. He will be in the main draw of this major clay-court tournament for the first time since 2011.
She advanced to the third round that year before losing to Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Marino suffered a qualifying elimination at Roland-Garros in 2019 and 2021.
She was joined by Laval’s Leylah Annie Fernandez, 17th seed, and Ontario’s Bianca Andreescu, 2019 US Open champion, in the women’s draw.
On the men’s side, Félix Auger-Aliassime of Quebec, 9th seed, and Denis Shapovalov of Ontario, No. 1, are also in the game. 14.
