Three Argentines will this Tuesday look to advance to the second round of Roland Garros against rivals of different hierarchies, on a day full of action after the postponement of several matches on Monday.

Facundo Bagnis will be taken to court very early, at 6th in our country (11th in Paris), to face Russian Daniil Medvedev, number two in the world and second favorite.

Rosario, 32 years old and 103rd in the ranking, will hit one of the tournament’s best candidates, current US Open champion and this year’s finalist in Australia. And he will look to advance for the fourth time in the second round of the French “great”, which he has already reached in 2014, 2016 and 2021.

This season, Bagnis has the best performance in the quarterfinals of ATP 250 in Santiago, Chilein February, and the dedication to Challenger of Pereira, in early April. Last week, he retired in the first round in Geneva with a sore left calf.

Medvedev starts out as the clear favorite in the match against the Argentine — the first between the two —, though he arrives without much rhythm of competition. It was that after falling in the Miami quarterfinals, at the end of March, he underwent an operation to correct a hernia and only returned to play last week in Geneva, where he lost his debut. And in the brick dust of Paris he couldn’t show his best version: he had his best performance in the last edition, when he entered the first round for the first time and reached the quarterfinals.

Who will take the victory will be measured in the next round with the Serbian Laslo Djere or lithuanian Ricardas Berankis.

Federico Coria will collide in the second shift -not before the 7- with the Slovakian alex molcanin a match to be played on Monday but was suspended due to lack of lighting.

Rosario, 54th in the world, will try to avenge the defeat he suffered against the same rival, 38th, a few days ago, in the quarterfinals of Lyon ATPtheir only match between them on the most important circuit of men’s tennis.

Semifinalist in April in Marrakech, Coria (30 years old) achieved his best historical performance in a Grand Slam at Roland Garros 2020. That year he reached the third round, where he was eliminated by the Italian Jannik Sinner. Molcan will play the main draw of this event for the first time.

If advanced, the Santa Fe native will face the tournament’s top favorite and number one in the world, Serbian Novak Djokovic, who is seeking his 21st Major in Paris.

Finally, around 10 a.m., Federico Delbonis (31 years old and 65th in the ranking) will make his debut against the local Adrian Mannarino (69 °). The azuleño, this season’s semi-finalist in Buenos Aires, came from the fall in the second round in Geneva. Last year, he signed his best performance in this type of tournament at the French Grand Slam, reaching the round of 16.

His rival, meanwhile, reached out at the same time in January in Melbourne, which he also had his most outstanding-only performance in a “big”.

The winner of that match will face the winner of the duel between Russian Andrey Rublev, seventh favorite, and the South Korean Soonwoo Kwon.

In the other outstanding matches of the day, Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (4th) will face the final turn of Philippe Chattier in italian Lorenzo Musetti; The Spanish Paula Badosa (3rd) will collide with the French fiona ferro; the norwegian Casper Ruud (8th), with Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga; and the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (7th) will be measured locally Chloe Package.
