River Plate midfielder Bruno Zuculini has tested positive for Covid-19 and he will not be part of the squad that will play in the final group match tomorrow against Alianza Lima, from Peru.

Through its official channels, the club reported the case of Zuculini’s coronavirus, which tested positive on the swabs Conmebol needed before his commitments.

“After swabs were performed on all squad members and coaching staff, player Bruno Zuculini tested positive for Covid-19,” explains the medical report published by the Núñez institution.

Zuculini joined in what happened last week with Franco Armani, Javier Pinola and Tomás Pochettino separated after being tested for the coronavirus. The situation occurred just a year after the wave of Covid passed the Millionaire squad, to the point that Enzo Pérez had to seize the Gallardo team’s goal.

Armani and Pochettino are already at Marcelo Gallardo’s disposal and will definitely be in the game, while Pinola is positive again.

The former Racing Club started Thursday with a 4-0 win over Colo Colo at the Monumental stadium, replacing suspended Enzo Pérez.

Zuculini, 29, is in four of five group stage fights and could reappear in the round of 16 duels to be drawn next Friday at Conmebol’s headquarters in Paraguay.

Thus, the midfielder will no longer be seen with his teammates until the start of the preseason due to the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores and the next League that starts in the early days of June. Technically, Zuculini is on vacation, but he needs to recover first.
