The Blazers, who play in the WHL, will host the CHL Championship for the first time since 1995, when they eventually lifted the most important trophy in club history.

We are excited to bring the Memorial Cup back to Kamloops after a hiatus of nearly 30 years, “said CHL President Dan MacKenzie. The Blazers and the City of Kamloops have submitted a first-class bid and they will be unique hosts.

The Blazers are currently battling the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL Western Conference Finals in a bid to qualify for this year’s Memorial Cup tournament, which runs June 20-29 in Saint John in New Brunswick.

The 2022 Memorial Cup tournament will be the first to be played in three years, after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the last two editions.
