Filip Chytil scored two quick goals in the second period to guide the Rangers to victory. His teammates Tyler Motte, Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin also moved the ropes, while Adam Fox prepared for two victories.

Igor Shesterkin set the tone for the Rangers win by closing the door on the first action, allowing the New York offense to establish its rhythm. He made 15 of his 37 saves in the first 20 minutes of play. He was defeated by Brady Skjei and Vincent Trocheck in the middle period.

Antti Raanta started the game in the net for the Hurricanes, but head coach Rod Brind’Amour called him out of the game after allowing 3 goals in 13 shots. As an aid, rookie Pyotr Kochetkov blocked 10 of 12 pucks.

Each team won three home games in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Hurricanes are also perfect in Carolina (7-0), but there is no answer away from Raleigh (0-6) since the start of the spring ball.

The winner between the Hurricanes and Rangers will face two -time defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning, who swept the Florida Panthers last week.
