Maradona is loved all over the world, but he is Argentine and is already a religion in our country. But in the other country where they love him most is Italy, because in football he shone with the Napoli shirt. So this duel between the two nations that most marked Diego’s life and career deserved a special mention for the star born in Villa Fiorito and passed away on November 25, 2020.
At Wembley the figure of Diego was present from this Tuesday when the first supporters of the Argentine team arrived in the United Kingdom for the Grand Final. Maradona’s face appears on drums, T-shirts, flags, jackets and more. Like Andy Warhol’s tongue for the Rolling Stones or like Che Guevara’s face, Diego is a world icon.

But that wasn’t all. Ten minutes into the first half, the Argentine public cheered Maradona for almost 60 seconds. Some Italians and “neutrals” have joined. Diego is gone, but his light still illuminates the path of the Argentine national team.
