Welsh is the classified number 30 for the Qatar World Cup 2022. The British side, who finished second in Group E of the European Qualifiers behind Belgium, sealed the ticket with a goal against Andriy Yarmolenko (34 ‘) in an attempt to block a free-kick from Gareth Bale.

The former Real Madrid striker went to comfort Yarmolenko, a West Ham player who burst into tears on the pitch at the end of the match that ended Ukraine’s illusion of playing their second World Cup after Germany 2006 .

Skilled goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, 35, was instrumental with numerous interventions for the qualification of Wales, 13th placed in Europe for Qatar 2022, which will be played from 21 November to 18 December. DT Rob Page’s “Dragons”, who replaced Ryan Giggs, join Group B of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, in which England, Iran and the United States had already been drawn.

Page took over from Giggs last November following a domestic violence complaint that led to the arrest and subsequent release of the former Manchester United midfielder.

Wales have only one participation in a World Cup, as they were knocked out in the quarter-finals of Sweden 58 after losing 1-0 to the Brazilian champion with a goal from Pele.

The match at Cardiff City Stadium was played four days after Ukraine’s 3-1 win in Glasgow against Scotland, postponed by FIFA due to the Russian invasion.

Wales, who had beaten Austria 2-1 in March, qualified for Pot A of the playoffs of the European Qualifiers, while Poland and Portugal had signed tickets in brackets B and C, respectively.
