Tiger Woods announced Tuesday that he will not play the US Open next week to continue his recovery from injuries sustained in his right leg in the car accident in February 2021.

“I have already warned (the organizers) that I will not compete in @usopengolf because my body needs more time to get stronger and take on the biggest golf tournaments,” tweeted Woods, who came back a week ago to play golf. ‘Augusta Masters, where he started very well and ended up blurry, and the PGA championship, where he decided to start before the final round.

The US Open, the third Grand Slam tournament of golf, takes place from Thursday June 16 to Sunday June 19 in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Woods added that he still plans to play the British Open in the Scottish town of St. Andrews from 14-17 July.

“I can’t wait to go back,” added the 46-year-old American golfer, who has won 15 Grand Slam tournaments.
