Canadian Kadeisha Buchanan has joined Chelsea

Canadian star defender Kadeisha Buchanan has accepted a three -year contract offer from prestigious English soccer club Chelsea.

She came to the women’s team in London after having part of the success at Olympique Lyonnais. Buchanan led the French club to five UEFA Women’s Champions League titles in six years.

The 26-year-old scored 9 goals in 130 appearances with Lyon.

The Ontarian will wear No. 26, which was last worn by legendary Chelsea player John Terry before he left in 2017.

Internationally, he has represented Canada on 118 occasions, and helped the national team win gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

Buchanan, of Brampton, has been named Canada’s MVP three times. He was also among the finalists in 2015 for the Golden Ball, which is awarded annually to the best soccer player in the world.
