In Independiente they were enthusiastic about the return of Lucas Biglia. Indeed, Eduardo Domínguez had had a brief conversation with him. However, the 36-year-old from Argentina decided to opt to continue in the Turkish league: he left Karagümrük free and signed for Istanbul Basaksehir.
Basaksehir is a young club, just over 30 years old. It has recently gained notoriety because the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was politically and economically involved with the club. From the entity, they approached Biglia and the player – who gave priority to continuing in Europe – agreed. His contract will run until June 2024.
“New stage. Happy for this opportunity. Thank you @ ibfk2014 for trusting me, I hope to repay him on the pitch. Thank you!”, Posted the player on his Instagram account.
Biglia left Milan free and joined Karagümrük in the Turkish league in September 2020. Already at that moment there were rumors that he could return to Argentine football, but the player – just like now – wanted to continue in Europe.
There he played a total of 68 games, in which he scored 4 goals and distributed 6 assists.
