Gold and silver for Mia Vallée at the Calgary Diving Grand Prix

Montreal’s Mia Vallée distinguished herself by mounting on the podium twice – including once on the top step – at the third FINA Diving Grand Prix this weekend in Calgary.

Vallée and her partner Margo Erlam won the synchronized 3m event with a total of 305.40 points.

They defeated two -time Olympic Maple Leaf representative Pamela Ware by a spot in the Canada Cup event. Australians Kate Rosman and Alysha Koloi followed the Canadian duos.

Ware, a former teammate of newly retired Jennifer Abel, teamed up with Aimee Wilson on synchronized diving. They only participated in training together before the competition.

Vallée earned silver in the individual event with 341.25 points. American Sarah Bacon took gold, while Ware took 3rd place.

Canadian divers will return to competition on July 15 in Bolzano, Italy.

On the men’s side, Nathan Zsombor-Murray of Montreal and his teammate, Rylan Wiens, were crowned champion in the 10m with 436.56 points.

England’s Ben Cutmore and Kyle Kothari followed with almost 62 points behind.

Quebecers Benjamin Tessier and Matt Cullen won bronze with a 0.27 point difference from 2nd place.

However, Cullen tasted silver in the mixed 10m synchro event. Rosemerois and her partner, Katelyn Fung, ended up behind the Brazilian duo of Kawan Pereira and Ingrid Oliveira.
