Former world tennis number one and Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal will be a father for the first time. Foreign media claim this Maria Francesca Maria Perellohis partner for nearly 18 years is pregnant.
The rumors about the incipient paternity of the Majorcan have been launched by the magazine Bye!with images of Mery and the Spanish tennis player on board a ship.
This Wednesday, Nadal, in an act in which he was honored in Palma de Mallorca by the Balearic government to celebrate his professional career, did not want to answer the question about possible pregnancy. “This Friday”, he replied, referring to a press conference he called earlier. There he is expected to talk about the topic and the chronic pain in her feet.
Nadal arrives after winning his 22nd major tournament at Roland Garros, his 14th there, after overcoming an ankle discomfort that forced him to infiltrate. In any case, despite the fact that he spends a few days on the open sea, he is already thinking of playing at Wimbledon in the next few days, in search of his 23rd Grand Slam.

The Majorcan has just turned 36 and his wife, whom he married three years ago, is 34. They have been together for a total of 18 years.
The couple met through her sister, Maribel, who was a good friend of Mery’s, Spanish media say. The wedding of both took place in Mallorca in 2019 on a farm in the north of the island called Sa Fortaleza. Other guests included King Juan Carlos I.
For his part, Rafa is usually a very discreet man with his private life and this may be the reason why he has not yet spoken out against the rumors about pregnancy. According to the Majorcan newspaper Last minutePerello she is in the fifth month of pregnancy and the couple already knows the sex of the baby: it would be a boy.
But the athlete has been saying for years that he wants to have children. He demonstrated this in an interview with Andy Murray two years ago during the pandemic. “My children wake me up at six in the morning,” said the Scot, who has three, and who advised Nadal in a friendly tone to enjoy being able to get up late as long as there are no children at home.
“I hope to be in your situation in a short time”then the Spaniard replied.

He also commented on it in another conversation in 2017 with former Argentine tennis player Juan Mónaco, his good friend: “I would like to have children. I am a person who loves children, I am very family oriented, and of course I would like to put about family, but I also tell you that today it is true that the years pass and we will have to make a decision, I would like to start doing all of this when my sporting life is over“.
No less discreet than Rafa is his wife, who has always preferred to stay out of the spotlight and barely talks about her private life. She is currently the director of the tennis player’s foundation and her institutional role is important, but her public appearances of hers are rare.
