Agustín Orión saved in Boca, San Lorenzo, Estudiantes de la Plata, Racing and Colo Colo. He has been a champion with all those teams, except for the Academy, and has had a long stint with the Argentina national team. However, when he retired from football three years ago, he did so silently, with no ads or social media posts (he has none), an attitude he has maintained to this day, who gave an in-depth interview in which he talked about everything. and was moved to tears.
In conversation with the reporter Marcelo Palacios for the cycle PM 910by Radio La Red AM 910, Orión retraced the time elapsed between the decision to leave the business and this present that found him vice president of Midland, the club of his childhood.
“I am living a dream. When I was younger they asked me if I wanted to retire in Midland and I said no, I would go somewhere else. What I want is to help the club and the city, because Midland is Libertad, ”explained Orión, who grew up in this small town in the Merlo district, west of Greater Buenos Aires.
With great temperance, the former goalkeeper acknowledged that quitting football allowed him to spend more time with his children. “Today I’m a better father,” he said. And he explained why at one point he felt saturated with the atmosphere of high competition.

“There are many situations in which I disagree, I will not be able to change them. For example, when they look at you and say “Orion is bad”. One has always been referred to as a fighter or a litigator, and anyone who knows me knows I’m not like that. I say what I don’t like and then when you are out you don’t have to argue, argue or have different opinions with colleagues, leaders or journalists, “Agustín commented to La Red.
Since his time in Argentine football, he has maintained an emotional bond with Estudiantes but above all with Boca, a club in which he has won four titles and of which his children have become fans. “Today I dedicate myself to Midland, I travel and I go to see football, Boca or Estudiantes. I live as I want, not as they tell me or as it should be for some. I go to the Bombonera, the area where I always go with my family, they already know me”, Assures the former goalkeeper.
In another section of the interview, Orión recalled his controversial departure from San Lorenzo, which took place amid rumors of interns on campus with the DT and the leaders.
“I regret not sitting at a press conference and not speaking. And since in this world ‘he who keeps quiet gives’, it seems that the bad guys are right in this case, as we talked to the guys on that campus. (San Lorenzo) gave me everything, I spent 22 years at the club, but my best years were with Boca and my identification was there. I could have freed myself twice and didn’t, and he had 2.4 million left from my passage. We managed to become champions with Ramón Díaz in that 2007 team. There are very good memories and the others are the most bitter “, expressed the 1.

Of Orión and its history in Boca, a certain dispute with Juan Román Riquelme is also recalled, although in the interview the name of who today coincidentally occupies the same role and leadership position as Orión but in the xeneize institution was not mentioned .
While not directly referring to Román, Orión also commented that he had not had a coffee or a pending interview with anyone about football: “I had to talk about it, I talked about it personally. Like my mother, who was a teacher, she told me. : ‘With respect, responsibility and height they can say everything’ “, said the former goalkeeper.
And speaking of Boca, Orión hinted at his departure from the club, which took place shortly after the elimination in the semifinal of the Copa Libertadores 2016, against Independent Valleyone of the biggest disappointments of the xeneize club of recent times.
“That Cup is over and I reunited with Melli (Barros Schelotto) and told him my time at Boca was over because he gave me as much as he gave me, and I thought my period was complete. He gave me his opinion and he also told me about his experience when he was with Coco Basile, that it was not his turn to play and he decided to leave, El Melli told me ‘the decision is yours’. On the other hand, when you are in the elite there are sports results, in this case negative, in which you have to take responsibility. I think we were the greatest, “agreed Orión, who later had a short stint at Racing to switch to Chilean football.
Finally, the most exciting part of the interview with Orion has arrived. It was then that Palacios proposed a ping pong table in which the former goalkeeper had to summarize in one word his relationship with San Lorenzo, Boca, Estudiantes and the Argentine national team. But it ended up breaking when it came time to define Midland.
“Eh … Sorry because sometimes it happens to me, I get excited … My place, no doubt. My place in the world,” she said through tears.
