They met 15 days ago, when the national team beat Italy in the Grand Final in London. But Leandro Paredes and Angel Di María embrace like those who found themselves after months of absence due to the pandemic. Everyone loved it and we started a campaign to do it. “. he explains to Clarione the 5th of the Scaloneta. that he was unable to play in London or the friendly with Estonia in Pamplona as he recovered from an operation for an injury to the pubic area carried out in April.

“I chose the name partly because of my history and career and also because of my daughter named Victoria,” says Paredes, who spends some time in the middle of the intimate introduction to chat alone with. this journal of his present and, sure, also of the great present of the national team and the World Cup which will arrive in Qatar in November this year.
“In this moment very good things are happening to me in life and professionally, in the club and in the national team”, he confesses with an expression of satisfaction, and lends himself to going back and forth in which he relives the moment in which together with Rodrigo De Paul they broke the ice to start friendship with Lionel Messi.
-How are you from the injury?
-Good. Thank God the injury is over. The pains have passed. I’m getting back on track physically, so that makes me more than happy.
-Are you ready to start the preseason one hundred percent after the holidays?
-Yup. Every day I go to the AFA building in Ezeiza to keep feeling good, to keep improving after injury and to get back in shape physically, which is the most important thing today.
-The injury and everything you have decided to be the same with the national team of Bilbao and London, does this speak of the desire to want to be there and not miss anything?
-I had the illusion of being able to be in the final with Italy. I knew the times were playing against me. But I know I’ve tried. I tried to get there, but the injury didn’t allow me.
– Did you want to get to Wembley at all costs?
-And yes, because I knew how important that match was for us. We had a very important test ahead of us, which had to face a European country in the final and at Wembley. With Italy … The illusion was great, but the times were not in my favor.
-And how did you experience it from the outside?
-The truth is that I had a lot of fun. It is normally very difficult to have fun when you see it from the outside, but my teammates played a perfect match. And we could all enjoy it, them inside and those of us who lived on the other side.

Paredes is one of the pillars of the squad led by Lionel Scaloni. He is one of the most appearances in the Pujato-born coach cycle, but, fundamentally, he is a key player in the game. But he too was one of those who laid the foundations to start forming the united group that we see today in the national team.
The story goes that in one of those first concentrations in which Argentina was going through a strong replacement, he together with De Paul, they went to knock on the door of the room to a certain Messi to invite him to play the joke. And since that time they have formed a great friendship which is the centerpiece of the Scaloneta.
-This is true?
-Yes, that was it. We were on an afternoon when we still had two hours to go to train and we didn’t know what to do. And with Rodri we said: “That’s it, let’s take the cards, take the madman and knock on Leo’s door.” The idea was to play a trick game, have companions and listen to some music and hope that he would welcome us in the best possible way. We were lucky to have opened the door to his room and everything went very well. From there began the relationship we have today.

-Is the World Cup already throbbing?
-We are very calm. We have done things very well and we are clear about that. We are on the right track. We will try to keep improving and growing as a team and as a group.
-Have they become candidates?
-We want to arrive with all the enthusiasm but above all physically and mentally well, this is the most important thing to play in a World Cup. The illusion will always be.
Are you clear about your immediate future? Will you still be at PSG this semester?
-It is difficult to know the future because what we do know is that many things can happen in the market. But I am very happy in my club, I want to stay to continue to be there and fight for important things. Later we will see.
