The president of the Spanish football league, Javier Tebas, questioned Paris Saint Germain today, accusing them of violating the rules on financial “fair play” required by UEFA for European clubs.

“It is clear that PSG violates the rules of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play, through reprehensible behavior that calls into question the credibility of the body,” said the Spaniard Tebas, in statements reported by the German news agency DPA.

Tebas denounced that “UEFA has allowed more losses due to the pandemic, reducing revenues, but the PSG has raised its salary in times of COVID. They will end up with € 600 million in salary in the 21-22 season, not counting the renewal of (Kylian) Mbappé. It is clear that the rules are not followed and the whole European football system is put at risk. “

Finally, the Spaniard drew a “clear conflict of interest” between Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG, Bein Sports and the European Club Association (ECA); and Uefa.

“He is a buyer of UEFA rights and we have to denounce him. We are not doing it to defend Spanish clubs, who have had enough of our most demanding economic control,” we do it to safeguard the ecosystem of European footballwhich is in danger, “warned Tebas.

Uefa, pay attention to the claim

Paris Saint-Germain responded to a request for information on their accounts sent by UEFA’s financial fair play experts, L’Equipe newspaper reported Thursday.

The Club Financial Control Body (ICFC) sent out a formal request for additional information several weeks ago after reviewing their accounts, just like those of other entities.

The club, which lost € 224.3 million during the 2020-21 season, stated that it had sent the requested information and that there is no open procedure against it.

The information on the additional information requested by UEFA comes the day after the LFP announced in Madrid the filing of a complaint to the European body against PSG, which joins another against Manchester City in April, “understanding that these clubs are continually violating current budget fair play rules.

The Spanish League added that it had contracted law firms in France and Switzerland “with the aim of taking administrative and judicial actions before the competent French bodies and before the European Union as soon as possible”.
