Alouettes quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. tested positive for COVID-19 and his name has been added to the CFL’s health protocol. He will miss Thursday’s home opener against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
There were several notable absentees from Montreal practice on Tuesday, including the squad’s main quarterback.
Head coach Khari Jones had already determined that Trevor Harris, who completed the game against the Toronto Argonauts last Thursday, would be the starting quarterback for this game. It is therefore Dominique Davis who will act as a substitute for Harris for this match. Davis Alexander will be the third quarterback for the roster.
Wide receiver Eugene Lewis also missed practice. Jones believes, however, that the Alouettes’ No. 1 receiver, who suffered a lower-body injury at the end of Monday’s practice, will be in position against Saskatchewan.
Linebacker Chris Ackie and guard Philippe Gagnon also missed the session.
The Alouettes will only hold a light training session on Wednesday before meeting their fans for the official presentation of the team at Complexe Desjardins at noon.
The team will host the Roughriders on Thursday at Percival-Molson Stadium.
