Serge Lippi, the historic coach of Sarmiento de Junín, has died in the last few hours after struggling for a long time against a serious illness. The DT, who was 65, had three passes through the Buenos Aires institution, notably promotion to the First Division in 2014.

“We are deeply sorry for the death of Sergio Lippi, who obtained two promotions in our institute as a DT. We accompany family and friends in this difficult time. Until always, professor”, Sarmiento posted on his official Twitter account.

Lippi, who died at 65 after a long illness, was a player of Jorge Newbery and Mariano Moreno of Junín, his hometown. His first steps in a coaching staff were taken together with Héctor Rivoira, in the role of assistant on the pitch.

In 2008 he took on the role of DT of Sarmiento for the first time, in Metropolitan B. The great rise of Junín’s team materialized years later in National B (2012) and first division (2014), with Lippi as mentor. From here, fans of the “green” take on a deep regret and retain a pleasant and immense respect for his memory.

Lippi also coached Douglas Haig de Pergamino, where he was promoted to the Argentine Tournament A (2010); at Crucero del Norte de Misiones; Olympus of Bahía Blanca; and Board of Trustees of Entre Ríos, among others.
