Diego Schwartzman, 15th men’s racket in the world, said goodbye to Wimbledon after being defeated in the second round by Britain’s Liam Broady 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, 6-7 (6/8) and 6-1 .

The Briton, number 132 in the world, took three hours and 46 minutes to overcome the resistance of Schwartzman, 29, on the grass of the All England Club in London.

In 2021 and 2019 (in 2020 there was no tournament due to covid), the Buenos Aires tennis player had reached the third round of the English Grand Slam, a performance that he could not match due to this painful and unexpected defeat against Broady.

The British celebrated with all the victory, considered the best of his career and none other than in front of his people.

El Peque fell asleep, making many mistakes and giving up the first set to his opponent. And in the second quarter he seemed to put all his experience on the pitch to regain control of the game.

With intelligence and a lot of courage, Schwartzman broke Broady by winning a scented second set for Diego. It was 6-4. And then a resounding 6-0, which in the third half is extended up to 3-0.

However, Broady bounced back there, drawing and leading Peque to the tiebreaker which was experienced point by point, and which ended up staying for the local team 8-6. The fifth was a formality for the British, who started hitting the serve with more confidence and completely dominated Schwartzman, until the match was over.
