Without Leo Messi and waiting for the new technical director, Paris Saint-Germain has started the preseason

After a more than complicated season for not having hit the great European goal, at Paris Saint Germain you can breathe air of renewal. It is that before the imminent departure of some heavyweights from the squad (Neymar?) The arrival of Christophe Galtier as the new technical director would have been added once the departure of Mauricio Pochettino was consummated. For now, the team from the Qatari capitals has started the preseason, albeit with a small number of players and several important absences.

Few players showed up this Monday at the Camp des Loges training center. Among these, Mauro Icardi and the Italian Marco Verratti. But if anything is clear, it is that the absence of more players (and a DT) is only a setback for a PSG that aims to renew itself from one end to the other.

And those who have not yet said present, such as Lionel Messi, Neymar or Kylian Mbappé, among others, will start joining before the week of Friday 15 July, in which PSG will play its first friendly warm-up. It will be against Ligue 2 team US Quevilly-Rouen Métrople at the Ooredoo Center.

Just a week after that first friendly, Paris Saint Germain will embark on a tour in Japan, where he will play two other friendlies. On the 20th the Kawasaki Frontale will be faced. He will do the same on the 23rd against Urawa Red Diamonds and will close the tour on the 25th against Gamba Osaka. To promote these matches, the club made a presentation which was attended by its figures.

Thus, this preseason start for the Parisians seems to have the sole objective of physically preparing the players, since many of them would not continue in the squad. For this reason there is no rush to add Galtier, at least until the team is completed.

The first to abandon ship were Xavi Simonspromising youngster who joined PSV from the Netherlands, e Angelo Di Maria, which would be close to reaching Juventus. In the coming days, Colin Dagba, Keylor Navas, Layvin Kurzawa, Mauro Icardi and Julian Draxler. It is not even known what will happen Leandro Paredes.

Although, if anything is clear, it is that many of these changes will be subject to consideration of the brand new DT, which is one step away from arriving in Paris. PSG’s official debut, on the other hand, will only take place on 31 July, when they play the French Super Cup final against Nantes in Tel Aviv.

Pochettino’s departure was delayed

And while the figures of the cast of the French capital enjoy the last days of vacation, the one who has no respite is the Qatari Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, who works against all odds with the aim of formalizing the departure of Mauricio Pochettino, in order to present in Galtier.

The delay in question has to do with the economic differences between the leadership of the PSG and Santa Fe, which seem to have been resolved in the last few hours. In principle, Pochettino should receive 20 million euros in the event that his contract is terminated unilaterally. In the end, it would start in exchange for 10 million euros.

In the last few hours, the club has announced through its social networks a press conference to be held this Tuesday, in the auditorium of the Parque de los Príncipes stadium and from 9 in Argentina. It will air on PSG TV, and Galtier is expected to join the technical direction.
