Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios, who will face the quarter-final match at Wimbledon against Chilean Cristian Garin on Wednesday, accused of gender-based violence by his former partner and is due next month in court in Canberra.

As explained by the Australian police, the 27-year-old tennis player will have to appear on 2 August in relation to a “private relationship” case that took place last December.

Jason Moffett, lawyer for one of the most controversial players on the tennis circuit, specified that it occurred in the context of “a domestic relationship”.

“The nature of this complaint he is very serious and Kyrgios takes him very seriously. At this moment she has no intention of commenting on anything, but at the moment we will publish a statement, “he told the newspaper The Canberra TimesYes

According to the Australian press, the charge carries a maximum penalty of two years of imprisonment.

The complainant is Chiara Pasariwho had accused the tennis player at the end of last year through some stories on his Instagram profile.

“I can’t forget the time he left me stuck in the middle of New York at 4am and took my wallet and cell phone. He went away with one of his exes to another club, I was completely ‘shocked.’ “, public.

The posts came after Australian police had to intervene in a heated argument they had while being quarantined together at an Adelaide hotel last October.

After the fight, which ended when the officers put the two in different rooms for complete isolation, the Aussie was accused of “aggressive” from your partner on social media.

Kyrgios and Passari have been in an intermittent relationship since 2020. They returned to Australia after playing the Laver Cup in Boston as a member of the World Team. Upon arrival, they settled in a hotel to comply with the quarantine provided for by the anti-Covid protocol in force in the oceanic country for travelers from abroad. And in that context the accident occurred.

Earlier this year, Kyrgios was shown kissing Costteen Hatzi, a 21-year-old model and business woman, while playing at the Australian Open.

Kyrgios: a story full of controversy

Balls to the public, penalties, expulsion orders, kicks from below, falls and dirty shots. All of this was part of the latest of the many controversies surrounding Kyrgios. It was last weekend, during the match Stefanos Tsitsipas counted for the passage to the round of 16 at Wimbledon.

The Canberra one ended the friendship with the Greek colleague based on disrespect, complaints and balls on the part of the two players. Kyrgios even asked for the disqualification of his rival for throwing a ball into the stands which, fortunately, did not hit anyone.

“If I did …” exclaimed the tennis player, who also asked to change a couple of line judges due to failures to call their own balls.

The Australian, who laughed at his rival’s childhood annoyances, responded by apologizing wryly when the ball fell dead into the net and mocking the situation.

That wasn’t all. His debut in the London tournament was something to talk about. After beating the British Paul Jubb, he crossed paths with everyone: he fought with the chair referee, with the line referees and even spat at someone in the audience who had insulted him.

When the foam had subsided, he appeared in the press room to speak to reporters but gave the note again. He came down with a tray of sushi and, while he was handing reviews everywhere, he cut the soy sauce with his teeth to sprinkle the nigiri pieces.

The Australian never goes unnoticed. If it is not for his unconventional shots it is for some critical or non-sporting situation. One of the violent actions he remembered about him occurred in March. After losing to Spaniard Rafael Nadal in Indian Wells, he turned his racket and nearly hit a ballhandler.
