In Wimbledon just talk Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard has called a press conference to announce that he will not play the semi-final against Australian Nick Kyrgios for the injury suffered in the abdomen in the duel against Taylor Fritz. The Majorcan thus comes out of the search for his 23rd Grand Slam title and the one born in Oceania went directly to the final where he awaits the winner of the duel between Novak Djokovic and Cameron Norrie.

the degree of injury that would force him to retire from the tournament in view of the semifinals against Australian Kyrgios. The Spaniard was shown this Thursday in one of the auxiliary camps to train and test his physique, but the images of him would not be encouraging.

This became even clearer as the hours went by as Rafa called a last-minute press conference to address the issue. The decision will be known in a few moments.

That the legendary Majorcan tennis player is calling journalists is not a good sign. Six years ago, at Roland Garros 2016, he made a similar move to announce that he would not appear in the third round against Marcel Granollers due to a wrist injury.

Spaniard Rafael Nadal went to the Wimbledon facilities on Thursday to train and train on the serve, given the uncertainty about his physical condition, and with the intention of preparing for Friday’s match against Kyrgios.

Nadal was supposed to train for an hour on Wimbledon’s main courts, which are open to the public, but he changed his plans and trained at Orangi Park.

His intention is to play the game against Kyrgios, which is why, despite his abdominal discomfort, he was present this Thursday at the All England Club.

He trained for about an hour, away from the eyes of the press, along with his coaches, Francis Roig and Marc López. During the exercises Nadal tested the serve, the hit most hampered by the abdominal injury that occurred in the quarter-finals against Taylor Fritz.

He practiced the service for a few minutes, although not at full speed, as he was supposed to do against the American, to relieve the pain.

The Spaniard will face Nick Kyrgios, who trained with him at the Aorangi, in what will be his third duel against the Australian on these tracks, with a win for Kyrgios in 2014 and another for Nadal in 2019.

Nadal has had an abdominal discomfort since his first games at Wimbledon, where he wore protective tape in the box, and they got worse after the fourth game in the quarter-final duel against Fritz.
