The Serbian Novak Djokovic, winner of his seventh Wimbledon and his 21st Grand Slam tournament on Sunday, loses four positions in the ATP ranking published on Monday and finishes in seventh position, having not distributed points in the 2022 edition of the traditional tournament being played on the grass.

Russian Daniil Medvedev remains number one in the world, not having had the right to play at the All England Club, as the organizers have decided to exclude all Russian and Belarusian players due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Paradoxically, the winner of the women’s tournament was the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, born in Moscow.

Against this decision by the leaders of the London tournament, the ATP and the WTA have decided not to distribute points in the world ranking.

Djokovic therefore lost the 2,000 points of last year’s victory after beating Matteo Berrettini in the Wimbledon final. The Italian, down this year due to contamination from Covid-19, also loses four positions and drops to 15th place.

As for Nick Kyrgios, beaten by Djokovic in Sunday’s final at the Centenary Center Court, he loses five positions to return to 45th place.

The main beneficiary of the lack of points distributed at Wimbledon this year is Rafael Nadal, who was unable to play his semi-final due to an abdominal tear, pBut it grabs a spot and returns to the Top 3.

The Argentines? The fact that Wimbledon did not distribute points did not affect them. It also proved to be an advantage as neither could advance beyond the second round. Thus, Diego Schwartzman moved up one place and again appears 14th. The same thing happened with Sebastián Báez che figure 34th and has the best ranking since he entered the professional circuit.

Another great news is admission for the first time in his career in the top 100 of Pedro Cachín, who is 98th and also has the best ranking of his career at 27. Cordovan, who did not make it to the main Wimbledon draw after losing in the second qualifying round, have just won Italy’s Todi Challenger after beating compatriot Nicolás Kicker in the final.
