Domínguez could not find a way around INdependiente and stopped being the manager. Photo: Marcelo Carroll
It was a matter of hours. And on this cold Tuesday morning, Eduardo Domínguez stopped being the Independiente manager after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat against Racing al Cilindro. The coach had taken Monday to reflect and had not had contact with the management, but when he arrived at the Villa Domínico property he held a meeting with Daniel Montenegro, the club’s sports advisor, joined by Héctor Maldonado (general secretary) and Sergio Palazzo (sports secretary) and has decided not to continue in office.
There were 29 games in total, with 10 wins and draws and 9 losses. He never managed to find the way to the team. He never managed to imbue his style with him, beyond the occasional game in which the game flowed from time to time. Irregularity was a constant in the cycle he started at the beginning of the year and arrived here, worn down by poor results and a totally unfavorable situation.
Domínguez was cornered between a team that did not respond to his idea on the pitch, beyond the will to do so, and a management that did not respect his requests. He left the racing field without speaking and on Monday evening, after no manager communicated with him, he understood that this was a clear message and that he had to step aside.
Although Rolfi Montenegro, who brought him to Avellaneda da Colón club, where he was champion in 2021, tried to persuade him to continue, his decision had already been made.
