The history of the International Federation (FIH) indicates that the Argentine team has won 25 duels between the two teams, while the Teutonic team has been victorious 14 times. The last fights were for this year’s FIH Pro League, with two wins in a row for those led by Fernando Ferrara for 3 to 1 and 2 to 1.

Furthermore, these two teams met in the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Olympics last August 2 and the team led by Carlos Retegui won 3-0. Agustina Albertario, Victoria Granatto and Valentina Raposo scored the winning goals.

To find the last European victory in history, we must go back to April 3, 2021, when they won 3-1 in Cenard for the Pro League. The goals of the winners were Charlotte Stapenhorst, Pauline Heinz and Pia Maertens (Agustina Gorzelany taken for granted).

The Argentine national team, winner of the silver medal in Tokyo 2020 and undefeated champion of the Pro League this year, reached the semifinal this Saturday in Terrassa after having swept away its group with victories against South Korea (4 to 0), Spain (4 to 1) and Canada (7 to 1). In the quarter-finals they beat England 1-0 with a goal from Victoria Granatto.

For its part, the German team finished second in its area under the Netherlands, with two wins over Chile (4 to 1) and the Republic of Ireland (3 to 0), and a defeat against the Dutch (3 to 1). For the playoffs, the Teutonics first beat South Africa 1-0 and then, for the quarter-finals, they beat New Zealand 1-0.

On the way to this instance, Argentina was the team that scored the most goals (16) and has the tournament’s top scorer, Agustina Gorzelany, who has 6 (like Belgian Stephanie Vanden).
