Boca does not hold up this semester. And it is not necessary to list all the problems born from that domino effect that was the elimination in the Copa Libertadores de América at the hands of Corinthians. From that moment on, confusion reigns on and off the pitch, beyond what can be seen in an unreleased reality show that came into operation as soon as Sebastián Battaglia was fired from his position as coach.

Evidence of bad timing was evident on Tuesday night at La Paternal, where Argentinos Juniors not only beat him 2-0, but also handed him over to Diego Armando Maradona. Hugo Ibarra’s team showed a very bad version with a 4-4-2 that ended up being a 4-2-4, with Villa and Zeballos providing the double 9, Vázquez and Orsini.

A test that clearly didn’t work.

The team did not perform well even in the play of the second goal of Argentinos. After Gabriel Carabajal broke zero with a great goal in the 23rd minute of the first half, Gabriel Milito’s side extended the distance before reaching the interval thanks to a great header by Gastón Verón, who put in the net a cross from Carabajal and gave the ball a perfect parable that left Agustín Rossi with no chance of reaction.

However, Verón’s technique was not the only reason for the goal. Boca helped a lot by scoring very badly in that interrupted match. It was noticed for the first time that Rossi has blocked four men, taking into account the sector of the field from which the penalty was kicked.

Then it was strange that Boca placed three of their best headers in the barrier (they accompanied Pol Fernández, Orsini, Vázquez and Zambrano). But that is not all.

Even rarer is that Ibarra’s team defended with only four players in the box, considering that Argentinos had placed five possible receivers (Minnisale, Reniero, Fausto Vera, Verón and Villalba). There is, according to an image that has gone viral on social media, a player who scores the spot – he may score the area, which is not bad) and three others who score personally – one of these is Verón who wins in the jump to Advíncula-. with two men free from Bicho.

That move, in addition to being a cut, highlights the confusion that Boca is experiencing in these days when it seems that the provision not to innovate is in force until the end of October, given that Ibarra has been confirmed until the end of the year. It is necessary, beyond the cameras on, to do a thorough job so that the team once again looks like the Boca is – and should always be.
