He did not arrive aboard a fast ‘drakkar’ with stable sails crossing the Seine like his Viking ancestors, and his attacks did not go beyond the changes of pace in the Alpine or Pyrenean ports, but the semi-unknown until three weeks ago Jonas Vingegaard, jersey yellow of the Tour, conquered Paris.
This 25-year-old Danish racer with a beardless face and a youthful air became the first Dane to win the Tour de France since Bjarne Riis in 1996 this Sunday.
