The Argentine defender José Luis Palomino, an Atalanta player, tested positive for a surprise doping control for use of nandrolone. Sources of series A have informed the ANSA agency, as well as confirming that the defender has been suspended as a precautionary measure by the National Anti-Doping Court. The news comes just over two weeks before the start of a new Italian championship: his team will debut against Sampdoria on August 13th.
Palomino’s suspension was made official by a statement from the National Anti-Doping Tribunal: “By accepting the request proposed by the National Anti-Doping Prosecutor, the athlete José Luis Palomino (FIGC) was suspended as a precaution for violation of articles 2.1 and 2.2. The check was ordered by Nado Italia “.

Palomino, born in San Miguel de Tucumán 32 years ago, made his debut among the San Lorenzo professionals and, after a brief spell with Argentinos, emigrated to European football. He crossed France and Bulgaria, but found his place in the world in Italy: since 2017 he has played for Atalanta, where he has played more than 200 games and has become an important piece in the defense of the Bergamo team.
