Work progress in Monumental. The stage of the future begins to take shape. And the remodeling of the colossus of Udaondo and Figueroa Alcorta brings something new: it will change color. Gray will dominate in the stands. This decision generated controversy among fans and many of them did not like this change and expressed it on social networks.
“Red and white respect each other”, was the phrase that circulated the most through the different profiles of the club’s members and supporters. And for this Jorge Britoclub president, he approached them to explain the reasons for the determination. We are aware of and listen to the fans, but there are technical problems. The new stadiums adopt dark colors for added durability and gray also has to do with the River. Red turns pink in five years and white is not recommended because it has no roof “the club president said in reference to the gray color the Monumentale will wear after its remodeling.

According to River reports, there are three reasons why gray was adopted. First, it tries to convey modernity and spaciousness, resulting in a cleaner design and visual style. Secondly, it allows for medium and long term savings as this color has a longer useful life in the uncovered stages that are affected by ultraviolet rays.
It is that, according to studies, red turns pink in less than five years. And gray, on the other hand, lasts much longer. And third, the club’s new brand manual incorporates gray in different shades as a complementary color to white, red and black, representing the institution of Núñez. In this way, by adopting gray, the Monumental will follow the trend followed by other stadiums in the world, such as Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu or Tottenham.

Meanwhile, the works continue their course. The Lower Tribuna del Centenario (90%) is almost ready, as is the opening of the new “Puerta Maratón” for the driveway (in the area adjacent to the Belgrano stalls). And work continues on San Martín (one third of the concrete has already been completed) and on Sívori (construction of the concrete for the new frames is in progress).
And as for Belgrano, even if it will remain for the second part, the foundation phase is underway. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the seats will be vandal-proof and foldable and that there will be a giant screen (three times larger than that of the Sívori) in the upper Centenary.

Leaders have ensured that the work is on schedule and so on the first part will be ready in February next year. Could the country’s economic problems delay the work? According to what Brito said, no. And he remarked that “60 percent is already paid”. And that there are no problems with import permits for materials.
With the new structure the capacity of the stadium will increase from 72,054 to 81 thousand spectators. There will be 60,000 stalls and 21,000 popular stalls. And River will have the opportunity to respond to the large amount of demand for season tickets and tickets from members and fans, the ones that will encourage even beyond the gray in the stands.
